Surprise!

So, afterwards we drive down Ventura Blvd, just looking around. BRKVW said the restaurant we were going to was in Pasadena and that the reservations were ‘later’. So we stop at an eyeglass store, a shoe store, a furniture store. We stopped at Ralphs and got some headache medicine. In the car, BRKVW says he is not feeling well, must have been something he ate earlier that day, and do I mind if we stop off at home first? I say no, and that if he wasn’t feeling well, we didn’t have to do dinner.

We park and go into the house. The door from the washing room area into the kitchen was closed, but I could see the light on and paused for a moment, as I did not think we left it on. Well, I walk in and it was a classic ‘surprise’ moment. A huge group of people standing there, a lot of them with cameras in their hands, yelling ‘Surprise’ and looking at me! I think I said, “Damm!!” a few times.

Then OneMermaid came forward for a hug. I have known this woman for about 15 years and I have not seen her for about four years. It was so shocking to me, I started tearing/leaking.

Then DJ came forward and I said joyfully, “The boy!” and gave him a hug and then they said, “Wait, we have another surprise” What could it be? A Puppy? It was GiggleGirl! Wow! All this… for me??!! It’s a weird and wonderful feeling.
Having not had this much attention on my birthday in years, it was very close to overwhelming. People came up from San Diego, and San Jose just for this party. Tigresa even took the train down! WOW! I made it a point to go around and hug EVERYONE.

It was the BEST potluck too! My dj friend played excellent music and then after a while, RadiantSun announced another surprise… We all gathered in the living room and LadyLungs began to sing opera for us. Opera! Wow! I was on the edge of my seat, with a huge smile on my face. Her voice is amazing. Up and down the scales, her chest heaving with air and force. It was beautiful. Of course I requested Madame Butterfly… the Fifth Element Version. She was not familiar with it, being a non-geek:) It’s such a funky version, I think she should learn it.

Afterwards, we all encouraged her to get a few songs together with commentary/history etc and do a one-woman show, or team up with a guy [to do the guy parts] and have a 2-person show. We think lots of people would go to that. Kind of a ‘Night of Opera... 101” Lightling would have her at the Nova. I’d go see her at the Nova…:) Wouldn’t you?

After the opera singing, a cake that Browascension and Lightling had made, was brought out with the traditional candles and the ‘happy birthday’ song. It was a most awesome looking cake. It had little figurines of animals and I think even a wizard. There was a pond [blue icing gave it away] and a tower with ice cream cone turrets. The tower was decorated with candy corn. You just can’t help but smile and laugh and think… With this cake, all is good!

Later on MobileDurant and his friends put on a fire show with poi and staff. It was Super-Cool. I tell you, I had a smile on my face, the whole night! It was fabulous. RadiantSun had a lot to do with the planning… thank you! You sly thing. And thank you to my beloved husband who knows me and still loves me.

He said, “I have a gift for you… it is in a place that when it is hot it is always cold and when it is cold, it is usually hot.” I love puzzles, but my brain could not focus on it, not with all the people in the house and guests staying a few days. It wasn’t until a few days after the party that I was able to focus on it. It’s the ‘I’ in me. I found it and here they are.

You are looking at fabric wrapped presents. These were hand sewn by BRKVW. I will have to cut the thread to unwrap them. This is the most beautifully wrapped gift I have ever received. It will have been over 4 months before I opened them. Beautiful. Hand made. Beautiful. He’s the best.
