After
the Fall
So, last Sunday, I took a bad fall. I was running too
fast, trying to catch up to the big boys, and came upon a change in
terrain. It went from dirt trail to rocky dry riverbed. And I fell.
Scrapped my knee, and scuffed up my palms. It has been a long, long
time since I fell. Like over 10 years, maybe 20!
The
next day, bruises showed up, all over. They were expected. However,
I seem to have lost some hair. Perhaps an after effect? Also, a few
of my teeth hurt, when I bite down. 2 front teeth on the right side.
They also feel just a teeny bit loose. The thing is, I didn’t
hurt my face in the fall. There is no bruising on, or around my mouth/
jaw/ nose/ face. Could this be an after effect of the fall? Or is it
coincidence? [I am going to the dentist to have 2 fillings in a little
over a week, so if it doesn’t get better, I’ll have it checked
out.]

It has been a number of months since that fall and sadly, I have noticed
that my confidence in successfully walking downhill has decreased dramatically.
It makes me wonder about the nature of confidence in general. Is it
better to have confidence, even if it is not rooted in reality? Perhaps
what I thought was confidence was really just audaciousness?
