Initiative

For those of you that were wondering... since alot of my posts are about my son, he does get to preview and has veto power over the photos and content before I post.

My guys were away for the past two weeks. They both returned a few days ago. Both, curiously enough, had similar experiences.

Both:
Hiked
Explored a crater
Got cuts on their feet and legs
Lost weight
Were mosquito bitten
Wore their shoes to the max
Slept out under the stars, with another guy(s)
Had an incredible, memorable time

DJ also got to sleep in a tent with 3 other women, so they differ here on that respect. :)

DJ came back, giddy with a new love interest.
Me: What happened to LG?
DJ: She’s always bored. She’s not that interesting.
Me: See… it’s true isn’t it—someone who says they are bored all the time, ARE boring!
DJ: Yeah.

We had the talk about beware of women that want you to entertain them all the time.

So here is the story!
While camping at a large state park, DJ’s class had to drive occasionally to their various destinations. On one such drive, Mg [a girl] had everyone in the car play ‘Truth or Dare’. On DJ’s turn he chose truth.
Mg: Who do you like?
DJ: Kl and Jl
Mg: Jl doesn’t like you. Yeah, she told me two weeks ago.
DJ: Oh…. Kl [who happened to be in the car] would you like to go with me on a group date to see the new Star Wars movie?
Kl: Sure!

Later that day, DJ notices that Jl seems sad. The vibe from her had definitely changed. “On no!” thought DJ, “Mg was wrong. I’ve made a mistake! I knew I should have found out for myself.” We later identified Mg as a calculating bitch and to avoid people like that in the future.

DJ tells Jl and Kl that he wants to talk to both of them. So later that night, he sits them both down and explained what happened in the car earlier that day.
DJ: I’m sorry for believing Mg.
Jl: Yeah, what’s your point?
DJ: I can tell that you like me, Jl.
Jl: What if I do?
DJ: Well, I like you both and want to take both of you to the movie. Is that OK?
Jl: Yes! <big smile>

I’m laughing hysterically. I can’t wait to tell BRKVW. He smiles and says, “Right On!” From my point of view, DJ is sure enough 12, which translates to mainly lazy. Sure he has interests here and there, but besides video games, I don’t see much initiative. Here is an area [girls] that he wasted no time and took initiative. I love it!
