I Just Have To

I am an auntie for the first time. My brother MJ had a baby boy! Hunter Joe will be his name and he is just the cutest! I just want to loose myself in the world of the newborn. If you have ever bonded with a newborn, perhaps your own, you know what I mean. It’s a different world. Time stops and cuteness reigns. I literally have a feeling in my chest, my heart, a longing to touch, smell, pinch, hold, and coo. To feel the weight of him in my arms, as I gently sway. Ahh... the world of the newborn. It is everything good.

12 Days new

Me: Oh! I can’t stop looking at this baby! [for the 5th time]
DJ: [perhaps agitated, perhaps jealous] I was way cuter than him.

I just had to pull out DJ’s baby book and take a step back in time. He looks nothing like the little chibi-tanku he was. Here he is now. With a hairy upper lip and impending uni-brow. It almost seems like magic, this growing up thing.
