Getting Caught Up

Clothing Exchange last weekend went very well. SmileyCynic drove in for the weekend and was joined by RadiantSun who stayed the weekend as well. Pixels_of_Light came with her new friend. Altogether, there were 7 women, a good sized group. If you didn’t make it this year, there is always next year:)

Talking, eating, swimming, hiking, game playing, talking, eating, more hiking and hair cutting. Life is good.

DJ: I can tell that M likes me.
Me: How can you tell?
DJ: Because in Winds class today, she couldn’t take her eyes off of me.
Me: [heart goes pitter patter]

I grew up in a family of large feet. While not Ripley’s huge, larger than average for my height. For those that will ask... 8.5 for 5'6". There’s nothing like living in another country, going into a shoe store, and being told “they don’t make your size... you have to go to BIG size shoe store” to get it... Yes, that really happened to me, while living in Japan. Largest you could get was a 7.5.

One of the neat things about having a kid is as they grow, you get to pick out what features are yours. Some you can tell right away when the kid comes out, other stuff you gotta wait till they are a teenager. Some things you hope for [I hope he gets my nose and not yours], others you don’t. Well, my kid got the large feet. Here is some evidence: For those that ask...My foot is on the right

When your kid wears shoes larger than 7 or 7.5, they are no longer considered ‘Youth’ shoes… they are considered ‘Men’s’ shoes. Larger… and $30 to $40 more for relatively the same shoe. While there is no issue with the price, I guess I was a little shocked, because I wasn’t prepared for this. At this age/height. He still has about 5 more inches to grow before he will be as tall as me. That I can see. That I am prepared for. But the feet-thing kind of took me for a surprise.

And now for something completely different… a different kind of Netflix… and you get to keep the discs. Sharing is even encouraged! I wonder if the movie choices will be heavy with god language.

Last night I had a dry vodka martini with 4 olives, a baby mix salad with balsamic vinaigrette and shaved Parmesan cheese and a medium well done Spencer steak topped with sharp cheddar cheese. YUMMY!! :)
And for dessert… dark chocolate s’mores with cinnamon graham crackers. LIG
It was so good, it was not only worth mentioning in typical LJ fashion, but even repeating. I may have the same thing for dinner tonight.
