It happens. Hasn’t happened to me, but it happens.
Federal Trade Commission estimates that victims of identity theft spent 300 million hours last year trying to resolve their identity-theft-related problems. !!

As such, the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act of 2003 was signed into law. They really cool thing about this is that now any consumer, nationwide, can request one free credit report each year from each of the three major credit bureaus. You know, to see if there is any suspicious activity going on that you are not aware of.
